The New York Yankees have acquired Starting Pitcher Brandon McCarthy from the Arizona Diamondbacks for 26-year old lefty Vidal Nuno, a move that the Yankees hope will be an improvement over Vidal Nuno in the starting rotation. That Yankees won’t have to pay the full amount of McCarthy’s contract, as the Diamondbacks will be eating $2.05 million of the $4.1 million owed to him.
This season McCarthy has struggled with a 5.01 ERA, to go along with his 3-10 record. McCarthy has won his last two starts, and has a good strikeout to walk ratio of 93 to 20. Nuno has struggled more than McCarthy this season with a 5.42 ERA and a record of 2-5. This probably won’t be the last move the Yankees do try and bolster their injury depleted rotation.
