The New York Knicks have announced on Friday that they will be waiving Forward Lamar Odom. In what was one of Phil Jackson’s first moves with the team he decided to take a no risk high reward chance on Odom if he could get his act together, which he was not able to do.

By signing him on the final day of last season the Knicks were able to monitor Odom over the summer, but Jackson wasn’t happy with what he saw, so the Knicks decided to let him go.

"Unfortunately, Lamar was unable to uphold the standards to return as an NBA player," Jackson said in a statement. "We found it necessary to free up the roster spot."

It is sad to see that Odom’s off the court issues have basically ended what was a good career for the 6-10 forward, as it wouldn’t appear that he will be getting many more chances with a NBA team.

New York also announced on Friday that they have re-signed Center Cole Aldrich. Aldrich last season averaged 2.0 PPG and 2.8 RPG in 46 games, but when he was given some time he did play well, and could find himself as the back-up Center behind Samuel Dalembert this coming season.
