New York Jets Off-Season News
The New York Jets suffered some bad news on Wednesday, as their Head Coach Rex Ryan announced that Right Guard Willie Colon will need to undergo a knee surgery to have his knee scoped. Colon was rehabbing from torn biceps and felt something not right in his knee when he was working out.
"A knee needs to be scoped so he's going to have that," Ryan said. "And so that's just something that just came up. He was really doing well on his rehab and things but that's going to hold him back. We'll see how it goes, but we're not going to throw him out there. We're not playing the Patriots anytime soon, so we got to do what's best for him."
In OTA’s on Wednesday, Oday Aboushi the second year Tackle took his spot at Guard. Colon signed a one-year two million dollar deal in the off-season, but last season was a leader and a big improvement to the right side of the offensive line.
Colon will now have to rehab from two surgeries at the same time, which is a difficult task, and it seems that the start of the season is going to be in serious question for Colon. The current Guard depth isn’t great for the Jets right now, as they have two late round picks from the last two seasons in William Campbell and Dakota Dozier.
The health of Colon will have to be monitored for the Jets closely for the Jets, as they don’t have a great option currently to replace him, and if Colon is going to be missing time in the regular season look for the Jets to sign another Guard.
